new york is full of bad art and a little good art and writers i respect, and one writer i respect wasn't in new york:

April 19, 2007

i ordered PANZER DRAGOON ORTA today off of amazon. new york was nice. my reading went well. i didn't hang-out with tao lin enough, but that is okay. ellen kennedy is nice. noah cicero didn't come to the reading. matthew rohrer likes XANADU.

that is a synopsis of writer related things that i did in new york. i don't really know a lot of writers. in case someone who reads this blog does not know, i'm not a big fan of writing "culture" or novels. i like a lot of novels, but i think that most people who write novels now are pieces of shit that want to feed their ego and think that what they are doing is important. i will read your novel and plug it here if you think you do not fit into my idea of a novelist. i will even buy your novel. i spend money on a lot of things, and i will give you some of this money instead of spending it on video games just because i think you will appreciate it. i know a lot of people in houston. i went to a lot of art galleries in new york, and the DIA: BEACON, and i bought new sunglasses and ate pizza chicken egg roll cheese pasta. my friend adam rio is the shit.

my feet hurt, and i am fat and have a cough. again, i feel the need to tell people that if you are constructing art and it has nothing to do with your personal beliefs or experiences, then you are a piece of shit. i think that my blog has become one long attack on this kind of art without giving specific examples.

in new york, people make horrible art and somehow feel justified and unique because they live in a big city. in houston, people make horrible art and somehow feel justified and unique because they live in a big city.

i am working on a book of poems tentatively titled I LIKE 'BACON' AND 'FUCK YOU': POEMS THAT ARE NOT HEAVILY IRONIC OR FULL OF LANGUAGE THAT I WOULD NEVER ACTUALLY EVER USE WHILE TALKING TO YOU, and am almost finished with it. I have to rewrite every poem I have with the exception of maybe five.

I went to New York and got sick. I am still sick. I don't blame New York for this.

yay! i am excited to read this book. i miss eating bacon. A LOT. will you be able to make group over the summer if it is on wednesday still? if we change it back to the weekend would you be able to come regularly? i know you are a busy person. this is a good thing. but we miss you at group. A LOT. sort of like bacon. except you are not fat like bacon. so stop saying you are fat! anyway. we are all growing as writers. progress is neat. ps. when do my intern-y tasks begin?

i am adam rio. i am the shit. i am in new york. i make bad art but being in a big city doesn't justify it. i make bad art because i am a bad, bad artist. i am bad in so many ways. and the whole world has to answer right now just to tell you once again who's bad.

Whoever says Adam Rio is the shit is not a lie. Actually, he's the shit times four. Shit can't even touch the the shittesque supreme glow of Adam. Yes, yes. I'm double serious.

I like art.
